All seemed not to be well with Nigeria's top political parties as both the People's Democratic Party, PDP, and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC are yet to settle its internal crisis. While the PDP still struggles to get itself together, the APC’s crisis seem to be getting out of control as the feud between party chairman Oyegun and Tinubu is reportedly spreading to other states.
The All Progressives Congress had earlier shocked Tinubu saying the office of National Leader which he occupies, is not recognized in the party's constitution. In other words, he's occupying a position that does not exist in the party.
The APC in its latest move which many political analysts see as yet another move by the ruling party to tactically frustrate its National leader Asiwaju Tinubu out of the party, the party had decided to suspend and subsequently expulse its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Timi Frank who is believed to be on Tinubu's side.
The party reportedly took its decision following a recommendation by a five-man disciplinary committee constituted by South-South zonal leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, Frank in an outburst following the decision to suspend him by the party, said the battle line has just been drawn and that he will soon shock the party.
He said, "As far as I am concerned, I am still the acting publicity secretary of the party. “The report is an effort in futility and inconsequential. I want to emphasis that I will not go outside the rule of law in proving to them that all they did was an effort in futility.
“I want to inform those behind this that I am going to come up with a shocking surprise at the appropriate time but for now, I am still consulting with the relevant stakeholders and those working with me. It is not my fight alone. I want to make it clear to them that I am not scared,” he said.
Timi's statement saying "It is not my fight alone" generated some reactions as many believe the party’s National Leader Bola Tinubu may join in the fight. There were already reports that Tinubu has withdrawn his financial support to the party, and is set to bring down what he joined in setting up.
