Uzor Kalu, who is currently standing trial for alleged corruption defect to APC

Orji Uzor Kalu, former governor of Abia state, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

John Oyegun, chairman of the APC, recieved the billionaire businessman at the party’s secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday.

Kalu served his two terms as governor under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but floated the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), after falling out with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He is currently standing trial for alleged corruption.

Last month, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned him before a federal high court in Lagos on 34 counts bordering on money laundering.
