LEADERSHIP: Jonathan was bad but Buhari is worse - Olaniwun Ajayi

Afenifere Chieftain And Former Commissioner For Education And Later Health In The Then Western Region, Sir Olaniwun Ajayi, said that Former President Goodluck Jonathan and the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari were not better options for Nigerians to choose as their next president during the 2015 presidential election.

He said that Buhari is a Fulani man and a Fulani man don't listen to peoples cry even when things are bad. On Jonathan he said, though he (Jonathan) was a disappointment to Nigeria and Nigerians as a whole but still yet he was "amenable, We could easily talk to him".

However, Ajayi admitted that he supported Jonathan's re-election bid because he believed that if Jonathan wins, he will implement the 2014 confab report.

His words, "As far as a person like me is concerned, between Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan (former president), there was nothing to choose.

"Because Buhari is a Fulani man and all the hues and cry all over the country about what is going on in government is nothing to Buhari as a Fulani man. It is nothing to him because public opinion is nothing to them.

"They are like ‘you are talking; continue to talk, I am going to do what I am trying to do and I will continue to do what I am doing.’ That is the attitude of Fulani.

"Jonathan is a disappointment. I didn’t realise that a lot of murky water flowed under his bridge. A lot of rogues were working under him. I didn’t know that, and I was shocked when the allegation came that his wife had a case to answer over $15 million.

"And of course, the wife expressed surprised that having been wife of chairman of local government, deputy governor, governor, vice president and president all this years; how can she not have so much money in the bank. That is not fair.

"Is it her money? The authority is delaying in confiscating the money. They should confiscate the money and Jonathan should come out, cover his face and apologise to Nigerians.

"As a matter of fact, he should have left; he should have not conducted the last general elections when those over 200 Chibok Secondary School girls in Borno State were abducted by Boko Haram and nobody could bring them back or trace them. Jonathan was our president and he was in charge.

Ajayi also fault Jonathan for refusing to step aside as the Nigerian President for failure to rescue the abducted Chibok school girls by the Boko Haram insurgents under his watch hence he realized that he was not fit to be a leader.

"I mean if he failed by whatever means to bring those girls back, he should have resigned. He was not capable of being our leader. If we were not safe under his hand, in whose hands are we going to be safe? He couldn’t protect us. He was not good at all as a leader.

However, he said, "Jonathan was amenable. We could easily talk to him about the implementation of the report of the 2014 National Conference, but nobody can talk to Buhari and you can see what is happening.

He said that he opt for Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election because he knew that Buhari will not implement the 2014 confab report.

"No! I said it before he became president that Buhari is not likely to be up to the task because he won’t implement the report of the 2014 National Conference.
