PDP national youth frontiers(PDPNYF),has tasked president mohammadu buhari to institute a high powered team to investigate the non utilisation of kogi bailout fund and the lingering salary crises of civil servants and pensioners in the state
Kogi governor,yahaya bello has refused to demonstrate more commitment beyond lip service to the welfare of workers and pensioners in the state challenging him to disband the endless screening committee along proper stewardship of the first tranche of bail out fund rejecting the returns rendered as anomaly
The coordinator of PDP national youth frontier,comrade austin usman okai dropped this hint at the backdrop and outcry of non payment,outstanding and cluster payment of salaries of civil servants and pensioners who have been starved without salaries by grouping them variously for five months,eight months,ten months while others are classified as "ghosts"
The group expressed vote of no confidence on the activities of the verification and screening committee along with the inability of the state government to off set the arrears of workers due for them with the bail out expressing dissatisfaction with the utilisation of the funds and smell diversion
Okai stated that the circumstances that led to the release of the bail out fund deserved accountability from the state government as stakeholders were all involved in quest for it to reduce the level of sufferings been undergone by the state workers
He condemned the initial idea of subjecting the state workers into opening unsolicited salary account in access and zenith bank meant to address the ghost workers syndrome describing it as negation of the social contract between the state and it's workers and grossly unethical
The group said the state government deliberated created the current situation on his refusal to hid to the advise of stakeholders to constitute a committee to handle the disbursement rather kogi workers now have many classes through classification by the new administration even at that some of the workers are segmented into "clear list" and "uncleared list"been taunted by the state government
The youth leader stated that the body welcomed the idea of eradicating ghost workers in the state civil service,but the approach adopted by the present administration was blanket and with sectional and political coloration stating that the state workforce had been polarised through the exercise
Okai described the civil service as the engine room of any administration that is determined to deliver on people's mandate along with dividends of democracy,saying kogi issue is quite worrisome and unfortunate
He said,the group will resist any attempt to continue to victimise the bonafide civil servants and pensioners in the state by withholding and denying of their basic entitlements all in the name of flimsy exercises.
