ONDO GUBER: Buhari's war against corruption is rubbish if Akeredolu remains the party’s flag bearer - Abraham

A contestant to the ticket of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Dr Segun Abraham Wednesday said the anti-corruption crusade of the Federal Government will be  if the governorship primary that produced Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) as the candidate of the party is upheld.

Also, Abraham said the APC should kiss the November 26 governorship election in the state goodbye if the Akeredolu’s name was not removed by the leadership of the party before the deadline allowed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Abraham’s statement was coming barely 24 hours after his supporters and that of Akeredolu clashed at the party secretariat in Akure, the state capital.

Speaking with some leaders of the party in Akure, the state capital, Abraham said the Federal Government and President Muhammadu Buhari have been fighting corruption in the country and have expressed his zero tolerance for corruption.

He wondered if the party and the President would encourage corruption in their party by allowing someone who emerged through fraudulent governorship primary to fly the flag of the party in the forthcoming election.

According to him, National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, National Vice Chairman of APC in the Southwest, Chief Pius Akinyelure and the Appeal Committee have described the governorship primary as fraudulent and asked for a fresh one. He said failure to do that would spell doom for the party in the state.

Also, he lambasted the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Oyegun over the statement that only INEC has the power to substitute candidate of the party.

Oyegun had said that only INEC has right to substitute the name of candidate of the party after such name had been submitted to it.
