The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ondo State, weekend, declared that the conspiracy by the opposition parties against Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) was a sign of victory.
This is coming as reports had it that protest against the substitution of his name by INEC had spread to Owo and Ondo town, yesterday.
A statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Banji Okunomo said “the palpable conspiracy against the candidacy of Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) of the PDP, which, by divine interpretation, is victory in disguise.
Okunomo said: “Ever since the news of substitution of Jegede’s name with that of Jimoh Ibrahim hit public space, supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate as well as his contemporary in the Alliance for Democracy, AD, in the state have continued to rejoice over the sad development.
“They are of the belief that should the name of Jimoh Ibrahim be sustained, it would be a walkover for either of the two camps in the November 26, 2016 governorship election.
“They believe that with Eyitayo Jegede out, they would be able to clinch the governorship seat of Ondo State with ease. Many of the people celebrating Jimoh Ibrahim’s transient emergence as PDP governorship candidate by a court order, on the social media, have been those known to be fanatical supporters of the duo of the APC and AD governorship candidates.
“It is a biblical fact that God rules in the affairs of men and no matter the provocations from whatever quarters, the counsel of God shall stand.
“One thing that is certain from the multiple protests that have trailed the substitution of Eyitayo Jegede’s name in the INEC’s list is the dogged belief of the people in the Eyitayo project culminating in their refusal to be cajoled into unpopular camps of the conspirators.
“This has remained a source of worry to the plotters of the evil machinations who are yet to derive any micro and or substantial benefit in terms of fetching people into their political nets.
“This development is to their chagrin. Already, they are thinking that had they known, they would not have hatched the unsellable agenda. The fact of the matter remains that as long as our Lord Jesus Christ reigned, His will and desire would never go unfulfilled.
“Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) carries uncommon sacred signature of destiny that cannot be altered by any man, no matter how hard he tries. This has been the impetus driving the overwhelming admirers and teeming support of the people to the divine project.
“It is necessary at this juncture to assure all who have chosen to follow the path of Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) in the coming gubernatorial race in Ondo State that we are before the court of justice with assured hope that justice will be done on the matter soonest.
“Contrary to misinformation of hopelessness being peddled by enemies of progress, we want to assure all that God Almighty, who is a God of justice, will vindicate us.
“By His grace, we shall overcome this temporary setback. We have deployed all legal arsenals at our disposal to salvage our people’s interest and to protect Jegede’s mandate, which no million ‘Araba’ and his co-travellers, can take away from him. They can delay, they can’t deny.
“Let this song continue to be on the lips of many who believe in this God ordained agenda of liberation that: We shall overcome!!!
Okunomo added that “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, regardless of who is at the receiving end. It is an evil that must be resisted and rejected.
