Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who briefly represented Kaduna North at the Senate in 2011, but is now in the APC, has said that APC has not yet been able to satisfactorily deliver on any of its promises.
Senator Datti said this in a recent interview with Daily Trust while commenting on the performance of his party, the APC, since it came to power in 2015.
He said,"The APC has not yet been able to deliver on any of its campaign promises. Even on the so much talked about anti-corruption war, is there yet any convicted corrupt person in Nigeria? There are cases but any conviction yet? No. How much money has been recovered and what has it been used for?
On the economy he said, "The economy has never done so poorly in the history of Nigeria. The dollar is now about N395, which means our living standard has depreciated by 395 minus 165, the price when Buhari came. There is a decline in the welfare of Nigerians by 139%. Industrial capacity utilisation equally declined and trading has slowed. Speculation is what people have gone back to. The economy is not doing well. May be that is why PDP is beginning to make noise."
Speaking further he said, "The time that APC was a party has passed, that was 2014 and 2015. People who saw that they could not challenge their governors, senators and members of the House of Representatives, looked for a cheaper way of doing so in the APC. They had not changed their lifestyle, history, perspectives and character. All they changed was their flag in the name of a party and came into the APC. It was PDP members who knew there was no chance in PDP that came into APC."
