High Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi, an Aspirant For Chairmanship Position of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said President Muhammadu Buhari was only showing a leopard behaviour to Nigerians during the 2015 election campaigns. He recalled that in 1984, Buhari detained him for three months for an offence that he held a political office then.
His words: "In 1984 when Buhari took over government as Head of State, I had the privilege of being detained at No . 15 Awolowo Road and was kept there for three months . My offence : I held political office . At that time, quite a number of persons were jailed for 150 years , some were given 100 years while others were jailed for eternity and so on .
"This time around , they say …oh you had a transaction with the Office of the National Security Adviser , so you are detained and later bundled down to the court . Well, I do not see any difference between what happened in 1983/84 and what is happening now and the law says that you are innocent until proven guilty . When my bail conditions were being argued , Justice Kolawole was very explicit on the issues.
"I cannot get into a lot of the issues because the matter is still in court and I do not want to say something that could be subjudice. But let me just assure you on the face of it that by the special grace of God , it was for showing ” the leopard ” during the campaigns.
"It was for the positive position I took for the PDP at that time that I am being persecuted and prosecuted and I believe it will not stand the test of the law of our country . I will be discharged and acquitted at the end of the day.
