Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on Monday said his victory at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal was confirmation of the 'divine mandate' given to him from above.
Bello, who was reacting to the judgement delivered in a matter instituted against him at the Tribunal by James Abiodun Faleke, said the victory was for the entire people of Kogi and his party, the All Progressive congress (APC).
"I thank Almighty God for today. Today being the first day of the holy month of Ramadan and today's judgement is a confirmation of the divine mandate from Almighty Allah that I as a common man is holding the forth for the good people of Kogi State.
"Anything from God is good. I knew that this mandate is from Almighty Allah and I had no doubt in my mind that we were going to have this victory today. It is victory for Kogi and for our party", he said.
Bello called on those bent on causing division within the APC to drop such idea and join hands with him in moving the state forward, adding that the people of the state are expecting a lot from the present administration.
The governor, who expressed his determination to work for the development of state, however called on the people to be patient with his government, saying it would take painstaking efforts to tackle the challenges bedeviling the state.
Meanwhile, there was wild jubilation in Lokoja, Okene and across other local government areas of the state as supporters of Governor Bello took to the streets to celebrate his victory at the Tribunal.
