President Muhammadu Buhari should disburse the money recovered from treasury looters to enable states offset salary arrears, a chieftain of the PDP in Ekiti State, Gboyega Akinola, said.
“As we speak, 27 out of the 36 states of the federation are indebted, and many of them cannot even pay salaries of their workers. So, if we don’t really want the system to collapse, half of the recovered assets should be shared among the states on equal basis.
“Similarly, Mr. President should give a clear order that the money must be used to pay outstanding salaries and investment in projects that would shore up their Internally Generated Revenue (IGR),” he said.
The PDP chieftain also frowned at non-disclosure of the names of the looters, saying the development casts doubts on the anti-graft war being waged by the APC-led federal government.
