Nigerians are not fools to vote for PDP in 2019, says Apugo

Prince Benjamin Benedict Apugo, a member of both the Board of Trustees (BoT), and National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), suggested that President Muhammadu Buhari should be made President for life, citing his good works in office.

When asked if PDP will come back to power again in 2019 he said, Nigerians are not fools to vote for PDP. He said this in a chat with THE AUTHORITY.

His words, "If the President as a person is willing to contest for a second term, I will even ask him to be life President. President Buhari as a person has done well in office. If not for his health challenges, Nigeria would have gone very far. Even with his health challenges, the President has done very perfectly well in the area of security. In other areas like the economy the President has been able to block the leakages to make sure that there is an improvement in the economy.

"In agriculture, even though we are not feeling the effect of the Audu Ogbeh agriculture in the South-East, nevertheless, the President has done very well in that sector. We have been asking Mr. President to appoint Presidential Liaison Officers (PLO), in states where the APC as a party is not in control, like in Abia.

"Mr. President should appoint PLO’s to represent the federal government in those states that APC is not in control. Former President Shehu Shagari did so. The PLO’s should take charge of federal government projects, and present those projects to the people for them to know the projects the federal government is handling in their states. For instance, the federal government School Feeding programme – if you bring it to Abia, you give it to Ikpeazu, and Ikpeazu will give it to his people. If they like they will go to the schools to feed the children, but if they don’t like, they will pocket the money. But it is a federal government project. If the party is involved as APC, the scheme would be properly handled.

"If there is anything, no matter how very little – that the federal government brings to Abia – of course, we have not seen any federal government project here in Abia where I come from - but if the federal government brings anything here, it will be handed over to an opposition governor. The way out is to appoint the PLO’s, they will have their offices in the states, stay and represent the federal government, and if anything comes in from the federal government, it goes to the offices of the PLO’s. If for instance, it is a road project, the PLO of each state will supervise the road, and make sure it is built.

Nigerians are not fools to vote for PDP

"How can they take over power in 2019, when all they did for 16 years was to loot the treasury? Are Nigerians fools? How PDP can come back with the level of corruption the party perfected everywhere? Many of these PDP people are supposed to be in jail by now. It’s annoying that these people, who are supposed to be serving various jail sentences, are still talking about taking over power in 2019.
