Staff of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have said their loyalty and support remains with the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of the party, describing the Appeal Court judgement as shocking.
The Port Harcourt division of the Appeal Court last Friday, declared the factional chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the authentic national chairman of the PDP.
But in a statement yesterday, Secretary of the PDP Staff Welfare Forum, Hon. Dan
Ochu-Baiye,on Sunday said the judgment has "invariably lengthened the vagaries" of the leadership issues in the party rather than provided lasting solution.
The staff added that there is growing belief that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has a hand in the lingering crisis in the PDP.
"We wish to urge all the organs of the party to use all constitutional means to resolve this matter once and for all in the interest of the larger whole and for peace to reign in the party.
"In the event that the party appeals the Port Harcourt Appeal Court judgment to the Supreme Court, we wish to call on the Judiciary to once again save our democracy and dispense judgment within a reasonable time frame to allow the PDP prepare for the 2019 general elections and for a balanced democracy.
"As staffers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and as stakeholders in the overall success in the PDP, we wish to state without any ambiguity that, our loyalty and support remains with the Senator Ahmed Makarfi led National Caretaker Committee of the party.
"While the leadership of the party awaits the decision of the National Stakeholders of the PDP that are meeting on Monday at the International Conference Center, Abuja, to review the development; the staffers of the PDP will continue to work with the current leadership of the party under Senator Ahmed Mohamed Makarfi,"the statement said.
