No more Buhari tsunami come 2019 - Mohammed Jirgi

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and member of the party’s 2015 Presidential Campaign Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Jirgi, has urged politicians to work ahead of 2019 elections, saying ‘Buhari tsunami’ which aided many into office will not repeat itself.

A statement he issued in Abuja, yesterday, advised politicians to establish structures, pointing out that 2019 general elections would be based on performance of contestants.

The electorate would not be blinded by antics of politicians, he said.

The statement, specifically, advised elected officials who benefited from Buhari’s popularity across the country, saying that such politicians could only be re-elected if they delivered on their campaign promises.

The statement read: “Come rain, come shine, Nigerian politicians who are nursing the idea of contesting various elective offices be it governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, state houses of assembly and so on, may ride on their own to win such elective offices in 2019.

“Politics is development and service orientated. It’s not about stealing or failure. Henceforth, our politicians, especially elective ones should face the reality of life as they are all elected genuinely to serve not to fail or steal,” he said.
