Had PDP continued, Nigerians won't suffer like this, Buhari is incompetent to rule Nigeria - Jalo

Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo, Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary Of The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Says President Muhammadu Buhari Lacks The Capacity to rule Nigeria.

In an interview with New Telegraph, Jalo said that Under PDP, the country was not like this, "people were very much comfortable with PDP government, which allowed them to run their businesses without government interference, without intimidation, without harrasement." he stated

Excerpt:

PDP wants Buhari to resign as president, what informed the demand?

The issue is simple. Buhari is not competent to lead the country. What we are facing is an economic challenge. Our output is zero, oil production has reduced drastically due to his poor handling of the crisis in the Niger Delta.

If we can get up to 75 per cent of oil production, the economy could be revived and we can move the country forward. Even the charge by the president on his ministers to think outside the box means the implementation of the international monetary policy is not good for the economy.

If Buhari has been listening to advise he would have succeeded. But he has not been listening. Given his background and qualification he is incapable to move the nation forward. If the president has been listening, we would not have been in this mess, even if the price of oil in the international market is $40 per barrel because oil production would not have been disrupted.

But his approach to militancy in the Niger Delta is not helping matters. It is not the price (of oil) that matters but the rate of our production. Ok, see the price of dollar per our currency. Our currency is weak and our oil production is low. We are not meeting our quota in the international market.

The president and his party, the APC said the problem was because PDP messed up the economy. What is your reaction?

Let him stop accusing PDP for the failures of his government. He was not elected to give excuses but to provide direction to Nigerians. He has reversed everything PDP had put in place. Our economy was the first in African, where are we now? Dollar was below N200 when PDP was in government, how much is dollar now? A bag of rice was less than N10, 000 but today a bag of rice sells at over N20, 000.

But come to think of it, all the people in APC government are products of PDP – Bukola Sarki, Aliyu Wamakko, Nasir el’Rufai, Aminu Tambuwal and the rest of them. So, is Buhari saying that they are the one that caused the problem?

Do you think if PDP had won the election the situation would have been different, the economy would have rebound?

There is no doubt about it. The economic policy of the APC is not favourable to Nigerians and foreign investors. Foreign investors are leaving the country because of lack of confidence on the nation’s economy. People are keeping dollars in their houses because government of the day has no clear economic programme. Under PDP it was not like that, people were very much comfortable with PDP government, which allowed them to run their businesses without government interference, without intimidation, without harrasement.

The economic approach of APC is what made people to be keeping dollars in their houses, and foreign investors to relocate out of the country. APC government is running a faceless economy. The government has closed the borders thinking that economic recovery will happen by magic. You cannot deprive people what they have without providing alternative.
