Arms Probe: Buhari is bias, says LP

The Labour Party (LP) has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of shielding some top ranking officials indicted by the report of the Presidential Panel on Defence Equipment Procurement for the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Specifically, the party alleged that the panel’s report was doctored to shield the Interior Minister, Abdulrahman Dambazau, and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt-General Tukur Buratai from prosecution.

The National Chairman of LP, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, who made the accusation in an interview with the Daily Trust, in Abuja, yesterday, alleged that the trial of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, were politically motivated.

“Dambazau’s name appeared in the probe report, no sooner than later, his name was removed,” he said.

“There was also the case of Rotimi Amaechi and others found wanting, and were all spared. If you look at the administration critically, you can see that there is government within the government, with the Chief of Staff and few others manipulating the President.”

He urged President Buhari to realise that the country was not under a military dictatorship but a democratic regime, where the interest and choice of people matter.
