Community flee after slaughtering Fulani cows

Residents of  Ndufu Ukawu  village in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have deserted their homes following the disappearance of two cows, reportedly worth about N500,000, belonging to herdsmen in the area.

The two cows were declared missing by one Alhaji Harry Jaku which led to a search for the missing cows. In the course of search, the meat, bones and other parts were discovered in a nearby bush in the area.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jude Madu confirmed the missing cows.

He explained that immediately  Alhaji Jaku reported  the matter to the police, the DPO Onicha police division  rushed to the scene and recovered the cow bones  and fresh meat where the hoodlums  abandoned them and ran away  when they noticed police presence.

He added that  when the DPO and his team  went into the community for arrest in the process of their investigation, all the houses  in the area were under lock and key and the whole community deserted.

He said no suspect had been arrested  in connection to the matter but that  police are investigating the incident.
