Senator Makarfi, however urges the State Chapters of the PDP where elections are to be conducted in future to ensure that they produce popular and Sellable candidates who will enjoy the majority support of members and avoid any situation where votes will be divided on factional lines in conceding defeat to opponents of the party.
He spoke in Kaduna yesterday, while reacting to the crisis in the party and efforts by former President Goodluck Jonathan and other stakeholders to broker peace and ensure that PDP survives.
The two term Kaduna State Governor said that the members of the caretaker committee of the party under his Chairmanship still enjoy the support of all the stakeholders of the party, saying that the members of the committee will continue to dispense their functions under the law and await the decision of the case before the Supreme Court.
He argued: “the court of appeal majority judgment, by its decision in legal form gives Modu Sheriff that status as chairman, and not just him but it returned the entire executive officers of the party. See, people still continue making the mistake, limiting the matter to Modu Sherrif.
“The court of appeal returned all former national officers, about 34 of them to their former positions. Of all these people, it is Modu Sherrif and four others that are seemingly calling themselves the working committee”.
